- I had similar problems with my old A500/030 and Kickstart 3.1. It
- functioned with one RAD, but when setting up a second one, I had the
- same problems as you have. Note that I softkicked 3.1 (the 3.1 ROM I
- had didn't function; I won it on a convention so there was no warranty,
- but I felt legitimated to use a kickfile and I had the manuals, at
- last). This meant for my A500 that after rebooting the the computer
- started up with Kickstart 2.0 which had to reload the 3.1 kickfile.
- This caused the computer to loop-reset because Kickstart 2.0 couldn't
- cope with the 3.1 RAD. Unfortunately I found no real solutions for
- both problems.
-
- If you only want a floppy-sized device in RAM that needn't be able to
- be resetproof, you may use the fmsdisk.device which simulates a device
- in a file. If you set the directory in which the device files are in,
- to RAM:, you have a fixed-size RAM disk, and if you set it to e.g.
- HD0:FMS you can reuse the installed units. You can find it in the
- Aminet, the archive name there is MountDF3.lha or so. I use it to
- unpack DMS files for fast installing. RAD is about two times faster,
- but sometimes it's annoying if you forgot to remrad it and then your
- computer reboots from a possibly virus-infected RAD:...
